If you’ve followed along for the past few weeks, you know all about my Alia’s Dress for Change Purpose Project with Mocha Club. If you’re new here and are just checking out these random cyborg-like photo edited hairstyles, then welcome. There is a reason for all this, I assure you.
I am in need of an intervention some style inspiration, breaking free from yoga pants and oversized sweatshirts; ponytails and hats covering up hair in desperate need of a good cut.
I am terrible about maintenance. My car will flash, glow, and ding annoyingly before I’ll pay attention and get the oil changed making this project the perfect accountability to invest a little more time in myself.
I cut my hair once or twice a year at best. This year the gap grew longer because I am growing it out. But lately my hair has given me signs, the flashing maintenance required kind of signs. It’s time. When every day starts looking like my before picture and ends with hair wrangled into a ponytail or covered with a hat, it’s time.
So, I really need your help!
My lovely readers, and possible guests gawking at my hair pictures, I need your help to vote on my new cut and I need your help getting to my goal!
It’s a sad state of affairs when you want a project backed so badly because you really care for the work Mocha Club does with at risk women in Ethiopia and at the same time, are daunted with having to actually get dressed every day and start investing in yourself.
I don’t want to fail and we are SO CLOSE! Only $129.00 to go!!!
If you’ve thought about giving, now is the time to do it! If you haven’t thought about giving but have run into me at Costco with no makeup, hat hair, and yoga pants and had to cautiously steer your children clear so as not to frighten them, now is the time to give!
We’ve got 8 Days to do this! It’s GO TIME!
Sorry, I’ve always wanted to say that, it was even cheesier than I thought it would be.
I would be the one to pick the shortest month of the year for a purpose project but I have faith in God and my readers that we can meet this goal!
I need opinions and I need money to meet my purpose project goal and have the accountability to make these changes for myself and for one woman in Africa this year. 100% of your tax-deductible donation goes to The Mocha Club for work in Ethiopia with at risk women.
I’m waiting to hear what you think would be a nice change for me. Leave your opinions in the comments section and if I meet my goal, I”ll go get the winning cut and color on March 1st and tell show you it. For real, not just superimposed on my head. And no ponytail or hat in sight.
I’ve given you 5 choices for haircuts (1-5) and 5 choices for haircolor (A-E).
——->Click here to donate<——-
Now you’ve seen them all! Leave a comment and tell me which ones you’d choose.

I love number 2, but since you are growing your hair out, number 5 would be my second choice. Honestly your gorgeous in all your choices.
Thanks for voting Susan! Looks like #4 is winning right now but remember this will only happen if I meet my goal and I’ve only got 2 days to go. Would you consider helping out with a few dollars towards my Dress For Change Project? We’re so close!

I have to go check out your project but in the mean time I vote for style 4 color c
Thanks Tobi. Looks like your vote is winning but we haven’t reached the goal for money yet. Remember, your vote only counts if I can make it to the goal by the 28th.
Alia Joy recently posted..The Faith You Don’t Really Want
Heavy bangs are cute be require odious amounts of constant maintenance. I vote no on #1.
The angled look would be adorable but defeats the “grow it out” purpose and would require a lot of maintenance (think every 4-6 weeks to keep it) I vote no on #2.
#3 is curly and you have lovely straight hair. The daily upkeep would make you nuts. It would be like me going straight every day. There are far greater things to worry about.
#5 just doesn’t look like “you”…
#4 on the other hand? Messy enough to look adorable in 5 minutes or way dressed up with some polish and a band/bow/clip. The shape of it follows your face well. I vote for #4.
I’m feeling very opinionated tonight. Want any more input?
Jk. Don’t ask. I’m a bunhead almost every day but Thursday myself!
heidi recently posted..What Is A Friend?
So far it looks like #4 is winning so your thought process must have been similar to others. Or they just randomly picked a number. I actually have quite a bit of wave/curl in my hair when I don’t dry it straight. But it’s not pretty wave. It’s like weird frizzle fry. Not so cute. So yeah, I wouldn’t mind chopping some of it off. Sure would make it easier when it gets too hot to wear a hat every day!

I’ll say style 2 (it’s kinda the Ann Voskamp style tho
)
Thanks Michelle. I’ve had a really similar cut before and it is a bit Ann Voskampesque. She’s a beauty both inside and out so you can’t go wrong there.
Alia Joy recently posted..The Faith You Don’t Really Want
As I was reading your blog on what hair would be great for you, I think a bob cut with side bangs. I scroll down and there it was #2!! This is exactly what I pictured!! Good luck!
Thanks Kathlyne!

Style 4, Color D or E
. You are such a beautiful woman, Alia!
Thanks Kristi! You’re sweet. I don’t feel it but I’m trying.
Alia Joy recently posted..The Faith You Don’t Really Want
I am going through a ‘hair crisis’ myself, so I understand the feelings!! I have long hair, which I’ve grown out and kept long for the past 7 years.
HOWEVER, my top layer is now fried(!) because of a hair-color/highlight!! Arrrgh! I LIKE having long hair!!
I ALSO like HEALTHY hair. So I have come to the decision that I must get at least 4 inches cut from my nearly waist-length hair, and probably some serious layering, too!!
YOUR hair looks so thick and healthy… if you need the ends trimmed well, go Blunt-cut.
After looking at the different styles you’ve picked out as “possibles”, and colors, too>>>>>>>>
[I was surprised to see I had chosen the same as "Tobi@SimplyJesus"] >>>>>>>>
COLOR C looks rich and vibrant! I think it would look Great on you!!>>>>>>
I really like STYLE 4, cuz it seems you have so much going on in your day, and THAT one is soft, flattering to the face, and looks EASY to style or NOT!! It’s a very pretty style!!♥
The ‘bangs’ on Style 5 are GREAT, too. I wonder about a bit of combo?? Cuz style 4 bangs will grow fast and be in your way SOON, and unless you Know how to cut your own bangs, you’ll be wanting them trimmed often.
STyle 4 is Awesome!!♥ You’d probably need to have a bit of ‘thinning” done for the bangs so they wouldn’t be too heavy for your sweet face!
Have FUN with this project!!
Love an’ ((huggs)) to you!!
In Jesus!
I’m pretty good at cutting my own bangs and have for years. But I rarely get the rest cut because I can’t see and I would definitely do a hatchet job. I’m thinking #4 is going to win but I still have to raise the money for my Purpose Project to make it happen! Two days to go and we haven’t budged at all so I’m trying to spread the word wider.
Alia Joy recently posted..The Faith You Don’t Really Want
I like #5 with the spikey bangs, and I like color E, too.
Thanks Pat! Remember, I’m only cutting it all if I can get to my goal! Have you checked out my purpose project yet? There’s still time to donate. Two days to go!
Alia Joy recently posted..The Faith You Don’t Really Want
I love #1- love the chunky bangs, ans as for color go as dark as you can. I love this look and unfortunately can’t pull it off with thin blonde hair.
laurie recently posted..A New Year – A New color: A kitchen update
Thanks Laurie, I don’t know if I can pull it off either. Virtual pictures and real life hair don’t always coincide.
I guess we’ll see. I’ve still got a bit to go on my purpose project. Have you had a chance to check it out?
Alia Joy recently posted..The Faith You Don’t Really Want
Hmmm???? Does your hair have a natural bend, curl?? I am going with style 3 for a couple of reasons, I like the bangs and they won’t be hard to do. If you have a natural curl, then it won’t be hard for you to style, little mouse, to make the curls softer, and it’ll be an easy upkeep since you don’t have a lot of time. When you leave the salon book your next appointment three months out. That way you have it down and you’ll more than likely go back and keep it maintained:)
Jennifer Peterson recently posted..Gluten free and a miracle…
It does have some curl. Not the good kind, though. The kinky weird, I slept on this hair wrong kind. With the right cut and product, I might be able to do something cute with it, though. Thanks for all your support on this project! I appreciate your encouragement!
Alia Joy recently posted..The Faith You Don’t Really Want
Oh sorry I forgot to tell you the color, I love color D BUT you’ll have to keep it up since it requires some highlighting:) BUT then that could be good too;)
Jennifer Peterson recently posted..Gluten free and a miracle…
I think Heidi was in my brain while I was looking at those pictures, I had a very similar thought process. I really like #4, I think it’ll be an all around good, lower maintenance choice, plus very flattering. I like color D, just because I always feel you should go lighter come Spring/Summer.
Thanks TJ. I think your choice may be the winner when it comes down to it. Have you had a chance to check out my purpose project also? I’d love it if you’d share what I’m trying to do here and help me get to my goal so I can chop it off!
Alia Joy recently posted..The Faith You Don’t Really Want
I like “B” – those cheek bones that I covet (forgiveness?) on a regular basis look fabulous with that cut!
Tonya Salomons recently posted..Community Manifesto – Worship Together
Ha! Those cheekbones show up in pictures but they’re less apparent in real life. They get swallowed up by the rest of me. It’s all camera angles, my dear.
Thanks for your vote, but especially thanks for all your support of me and this project! I so appreciate you! I have two days to go and I still have a ways to go but I am so blessed by your encouragement either way. It means the world to me.
Alia Joy recently posted..The Faith You Don’t Really Want
I’m waffling between A and B. As a woman who almost never cuts her hair, I can totally relate. What about the bangs of A, but a little shorter, like B? I wouldn’t go too light on the color, but a little might be okay. Can you trim your own bangs? That would help you get maybe a few extra weeks in before a trim.
Cynthia recently posted..Five Minute Friday: Beloved
Yes, I trim my own bangs so that helps. That’s also a big reason I don’t get my hair cut much. I’ll do layers around my face and bangs myself but since I can’t see the back it can get crazy! I’m hoping to fix that soon if I can get to my goal! Thanks for all your support, Cynthia! I really appreciate it.
Alia Joy recently posted..The Faith You Don’t Really Want
I think your face shape looks better with he side swipe bangs so I like #4 but you could always leave the length a little longer if you wanted to keep it long. I also like like the lighter color for your coloring.
Thanks for your vote Laura. It feels so weird talking all about my hair and face shape and coloring online. lol. Two days to go and we’re not there yet but your pick is winning right now! Have you had a chance to click over to my purpose project? I’d love it if you’d share the word so I can get that cut!
Alia Joy recently posted..The Faith You Don’t Really Want
#2!! That was what I envisioned even before I saw the choices. It’s vibrant and spunky – just like you!! Go for it and please post pics of your cute self!!

Amy Tilson recently posted..Bowing Down
Thanks Amy! I will not only be posting pictures of my before and after but I’ll be writing about the whole thing right here after… That is, if I make my goal! Help spread the word, 2 days to go and I’m not there yet. http://blog.themochaclub.org/purpose-projects/alia-dress-for-change-project/ Only $129 left.
Alia Joy recently posted..The Faith You Don’t Really Want
2 or 4! You look darling in either of those.
Tsh Oxenreider recently posted..Pursuing Justice (and a giveaway)
Thanks Tsh! I wasn’t sure which to get cut and since I’m doing this purpose project with Dress for Change as my motivator, I figured a new haircut was in order. Looks like #4 is currently in the lead, but I’ve got a bit to raise in the next two days so we’ll see what happens! Have you had a chance to check out my mocha club project?
Alia Joy recently posted..The Faith You Don’t Really Want
Style 4 Color E….and i want to try on hairstyles like that!! fun!!
Thanks for the vote Carrie! Your cut is winning right now but I still need to raise the rest of the money to make it happen. Here’s a little goodie for you, I used this site to try them on. Totally free and fun. Now I’ve seen myself blonde, with an afro, and blazing red curls.

Ohh…I’m really liking #2 and #4, but now that I have scrolled up again, I’m going to say that I really like #4. It’s been a while since I’ve seen it at that length, all sassy.
This is so fun! Now I want to come with you when you get it cut.
Kathi recently posted..What Mama Did
Thanks Kathi! I think #4 is winning but my pledge amounts are constipated. Totally stuck needing $129 still. I may not be getting it cut if I can’t get there so help spread the word! Two days to go and I’m hoping God is not trying to teach me that it’s worth being obedient even if you fail miserably! That would be just like Him. lol

Style 2
Thanks for the vote, Stacey! Two days to go and I’ve still a ways to go. Have you had a chance to check out Mocha Club and my purpose project? I’d love if you’d consider partnering with me to make this happen!
Alia Joy recently posted..The Faith You Don’t Really Want
You look nice with all the hairstyles but I think #4 suits you the best.the color is vibrant and the cut is sassy and easy to manage.
Btw I have been following your blog for the past 3 months and I love the honesty of your writing.Looking forward to more.
Thank you so much! It’s so nice to ‘meet’ a reader. And thank you for commenting here and voting. It looks like your choice is the forerunner right now so we’ll see what happens in the next two days. If you’ve been following my blog, you know how much this purpose project means to me. Thanks for following along, I appreciate your encouragement!

I LOVE #2… although #4 is super cute too! I donated and LOVE Women At Risk! I have hosted a jewelry party in the past and it was so easy and so fun… need to schedule another one soon!
Bless you sweet friend! (Oh- and we’ll be driving your way to Redding on the last Saturday of March… Easter wknd! We didn’t plan it that way but it’s just how it worked out! Would be lovely to connect in real life – if not this trip… then on another!)
~Karrilee~ recently posted..The Flow of Grace
Thank YOU! I love that you donated!!! Can I just happy dance? And I love that you voted also. #4 is winning right now but we still have a ways to go with donations to meet my goal and two days to get it done. I’d love it if you’d share this post.
And I would LOVE to meet you in real life. We’ll have to make it happen another time though, because we’re going to Reno to visit friends over spring break and will be out of town then. ;( We’re close though. I think we should plan a PNW bloggers meetup somewhere central to us in the future. Maybe we can make that happen someday as well!

Style 2 color c!!!
You go girl!!!
Thanks Blair. I think #4 is winning right now but we’ve got a ways to go with the donations! I’m praying.
