Five Minute Friday: Oppurtunity

On Fridays we write with gusto, unselfconscious and flat-out.

What can you write in five minutes flat? {—> click to tweet}.

1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. And then absolutely, no ifs, ands or buts about it, you need to visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them in their comments. Seriously. That is, like, the rule. And the fun. And the heart of this community.

OK, are you ready? Give me your best five minutes on: Opportunity

My hand is bronzed slightly from the first few good days of sun. Fingertips worn down numb from typing.

Pulpy soft fingers, where my wedding band rests. Comfortably now, forgotten because it is no longer an accessory but a part of me. When I’m bored, I twist it absent-mindedly.

My nails are cut short and functional. I have pen ink on them from my Bic. My palms still hint at the fig lotion I applied that morning.

I wish I had long tapered fingers but they are short and seem to widen as they enter my palm.

My hands can sign. Speak volumes to my mother in law who was deaf.

They can cuddle and grasp and lift my children to me. Apply band-aids and smooth back hair. Turn the pages of The Little Princess for the hundredth time. Push the swing higher.

My hands can caress and show love and hold tight. And rub lotion into worn muscles after he comes home from work and his body is done.

They can build Lego, dig through soil, and reap a harvest in joyful children and bursting zucchini.

My hands can tell my story in clacking keys, hit publish and let it rest.

My hands can lift in worship and lower to serve, and isn’t it all one in the same?

My hands philosophy is… whatsoever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might.

May these hands find the opportunities that God has given them.
